As if the plane that had been pushing through the gray world had suddenly appeared above the clouds, I have come to feel stability and brilliance in my own prints. Of course, I am still a beginner in printmaking and feel I have a lot to learn. I am sure it will continue for the rest of my life. While I have been making photographs using analog techniques for 40 years, intaglio printmaking fascinates me because of its handcrafted techniques and more direct approach to the material. On the other hand, it would not be possible without the intervention of recent digital technology, and I feel that Phtogravure-Print is just the beginning for me. The light and texture of the motifs, the pleasant noisy shadows, and the scent of intaglio ink are what spurs me on to the next creation.
